- D. Michael Dale (michael@nwjp.org), NWJP Executive Director, worked for 25 years as a legal services attorney in Oregon, directing its migrant program. When, in 1995, federally funded legal services were restricted from representing undocumented individuals and from class action litigation, Michael helped establish the Oregon Law Center to meet those needs. He has litigated and won significant cases involving minimum wage law, immigration rights, and workers compensation in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and in the Oregon appellate courts.
- Meg Heaton (meg@nwjp.org), NWJP attorney, graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon in 2005 and joined NWJP the same year. During law school, Meg interned at the International Labor Rights Fund in Washington DC, where she assisted in state and federal litigation against U.S.-based multinational corporations including lawsuits against Unocal Corporation for using forced labor in Burma and against Del Monte for its abuse of union leaders in Guatemala. As NWJP's staff attorney, she has represented hundreds of workers in federal and state court, as well as a variety of administrative proceedings. She also has represented the rural community activists of the Rural Organizing Project in their legal battle against anti-immigrant ballot measures in Columbia County.
- Ivonne Rivero (ivonne@nwjp.org), NWJP paralegal, is an experienced interpreter, translator, and journalist. A native of Mexico and fluent in both Spanish and English, Ivonne was a journalist at Portland's El Hispanic News. She also teaches Spanish as a second language and interprets in court proceedings. As an activist, Ivonne has long advocated for the rights of women, workers and immigrants. Ivonne's other interests include issues of diversity and freedom of the press, new poetry in translation, and publishing.
